The car

Av: Lovisa Hjelmér

Introduction:
The car has really done it easier for the peoples weekdays, both with transport and getting to other places. The first car was manufactured 1769 by the german Siegfried Marcus. The first car had a combustible engine and self control device. The first individual who was first to sell self propelled cars was the german Carl Benz. He had a small firm in Mannheim, where he built the stationary
two-stroke engines, powered by gas.

Purpose:
I'm writing about the car because I want to see how it has evolved from the 1800s to now. What has changed and not, and what has become better. If we can develop the car so it will be more environmentally friendly.

Background:
The French man Joseph Cugnot invented the steam wagon wheel year 1769. The first front wheel was driven by incremental effect of a piston rod. Maximum speed was 5km/ h and the vehicle could only travel in on quarter. In the early 1800s made Richard Trevethitch a car that could go up to 14km/ h. About 20 years later they developed an omnibus's, which was powered by steam. The vehicles were very heavy and difficult to enforce, but the speed could still go up to 20km/ h, even though you only had to drive 20km/h there was many accidents, because that they were difficult to control and heavy. In 1896 came a law that every car would be preceded by a red flag, the law was repealed in 1896.

In 1860 took the Frenchman Jean Joseph Etienne Lenior patent for a combustion engine, powered by flare gas. The engine fit in a car year 1863. They tried before to deploy a combustion engine in a car, but the car was in a poor service. The four-stroke engine showed the French engineer Alphonse Eugene Beau De Rochas year 1862.In the engine , there was a fuel treatment that responded before the ignition. the engine was renewed in 1878 and Nikolaus Otto Eugen Langen showed the knew model.
They showed new versions of gasoline engines from two different directions in 1885. One name was daimler and the other was Carl Benz. During that year you could call the car, the car.

1889 daimler produced a two cylinder engine that had 3,5 horsepower, the engine was equipped with a clutch and a gear. Both this and the later vehicles and Daimlers previous designs were equipped with different drive.
In 1867 Carl Benz built his first four-wheeled car, that was when his first velo came. The car was very easy to manufacture, so they made 135 cars. The two designers René Pannhard and Emile Levasson thought that one of Daimlers new car models, that were built in 1889, was very well designed so they decided to use the same concept, though in a more wagon- like version. Years after 1890, they made a try, which was not up to expectations. The engine was a two cylinder that was placed in the cars front, it made it stronger in cornering.

Now when the speed is increasing, they began to experiment with control systems, who had just been a simple lever. 1898 came the first steering wheel of the Pannhard models. Solutions also came to the wheels spring accessions. Pneumatic wheels were better than wheels with rubber-ring around.
In 1886, produced a car with a planetery gear as self-supporting body of Fredrick Lanchester.
One of the car history, more doubtful brandning was probably Mercedes. Mercedes is named for his daughter, on an Austrian consultant, Emil Jellinek.

Emil Jellinek had his account on behalf of Daimlers and he dedicated his production to suit more rich customers. Mercedes cars were often sold in connections with bribes, shady and crocked dealings f any kind. Jellineks cars were expensive, so it was not often that people could afford to buy his cars.
He made money but in a illegal way. In the 1900s they began with the cars of the future. With more sweeping forms, drum-breaks, and with a Spyker and front wheel drive.

Many claim that the cars right story started by Henry Ford and his cars. They made many cars in his direction since 1903. In October 1908, began the first T-Ford selling. It was that car that revolutionized the whole industry. His cars were adjusted to every mans wallet. Every tenth car was
that was manufactured and sold was a Ford. In1919 is launched a T-Ford with a coupé, which tougher has sold in 15 million copies.

Cars advantage:
Our society has in a very short time complied with the car and it's capabilities. All people living in developed countries will always have a need for a car, because the whole society is built with the knowledge that most people in the society have a car. The car has this amazing ability to transport people in an easy and smooth way, and its very comfortable in terms of longer distances.
The car has made it easier for people in the community.

Cars drawbacks:
Even those who are not riding or driving a car, it affects them. Cars rampage and discharge also contributing to the thinned ozone layer, bad air and a damaged climate.
The problem is greatest in the larger cities, for example when you go to London, you could feel that it's pollute air. People living in cities with bad air, gets used to the air.
The main disadvantage of the car is accidents. Usually its because you drive too fast or have alcjol in your body.

Research:
How has the car affected the human society during the 1900s?
In todays society it would be unthinkable without a car. But during the 1900s it was different.
The car was new to the community, and there were many who had not even been in a car.
Just as well now as then we used the car for transporting. In 1910 there was only one car in 333:rd US inhabitant. It seemed that the new invention became popluar and used by the man.
They thought is was not daring or difficult with the car. The car was getting with the time a very common and an important thing for any person, it began to be part of everyday life.
Now it began to get more brands and designs, and they began an mass production. Cars sold in quantity. The car has meant a lot to the society. You could say that the car was yesterdays future.
During world war II the car and other transports was very essential for the human.
If the car was not manufactured we would still ride around in horse and buggy, and that is both good and bad. Advantage is that it's more environmentally friendly. Drawback is that it takes longer time. The car over the years has not always been good for our society. Today it is the one causing the most fatalities. The ozone layer has been affected because of ten car.

Discussion:
I think that the car has made it easier for the man's everyday. Even if the car has not beeb around
very long, we have a great use of the cars easy and convenient way to transport us to different places.
If you look at the that was then and now we see that the car has evolved a lot. The first car could only go up to 5km/ h and now the car can go over 100km/ h, it is a big difference.
I think we will always have a great need for the car, because it is both easier and more comfortable
with the car. Now when there are cars in the community , I think they will not disappear, rather we will develop them more.
The car has it's drawbacks. One of the disadvantages is that cars pollution's the atmosphere which leads to increasing the greenhouse effect. This can result in an rising off skin cancer because the sunbeams easier can pass our protective layer of the ozone. The cars gas also affect us when we breath seeing as we do it everyday. That is way we should choose a more environmentally friendly car, for example , electric car, we can run on ethanol. The main disadvantage is accident's. For the most part it's because we cannot keep speed limits or we have alcohol in our body.
To make it safer on the road you could put up more cameras. I think there should be a alcoholic blow in the car; it should be there when you are buying a car.
Then you can blow before you drive, it would be much safer on the road both for you and others.

Refrenser:
I used the internet a lot. The websites that I used was called skolarbete.nu and Wikipedia. I was in there 28 october 2010.

Book review, av Kim Stroem

Rage
Writer: Stephen King

Rage is a book about a person named Charlie Decker. It starts when Charlie gets called to the expedition by a person called Denver. Denver talked about when Charlie was close to killing a teacher with a wrench wich happened a while ago. Charlie responded with alot of insulting words and made him very mad. Denver then expels Charlie and later on he goes to his locker and gets a gun then he shootsn two teachers . A usual day in school turns into a nightmare in this book. You'll follow Charlie as he takes all his classmates as hostages (One thing I couldn't understand is how everyone except one got the Stockholm Syndrome).

This book was pretty exciting in some parts (Especially when people got shot :D ) and sometimes not. You can see that Charlie really had some issues with his brain because he had a twisted way of making people feel bad. Alot of parts in this book concists of stories being told by the people in the classroom (wich pretty much bothers me because sometimes I get lost and don't know if it's happening to them at the moment or not).

My favorite part in the book is where (SPOILER ALERT DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU WANT TO READ IT YOURSELF IN THE BOOK) Charlie gets shot . I would recommend this book to people that like thriller books. The book was pretty short I think it was about 180 pages or something.

I give this book 4 out of 5 Chocolate Chip Cookies.
